Twenty Weeks - 26.2 Miles - a million dreams

Apart from the successful half marathon training program, for 2014, Vibha introduces its first Marathon training program - Twenty weeks to 26.2 miles - one of the most affordable Marathon training programs in the country.

Who?
======

Beginners and experienced runners alike will enjoy and benefit from this program. Research as well as our successful history with the half marathon training program shows that training and participating in races as a team enhances the experience. We have nurturing, experienced coaches, approachable mentors, dedicated volunteers - What's more, we have the greatest parties and team bonding events!

What?
======

This is a gently progressive program involving one official team run every Sunday and three weekday runs with the team or otherwise. We start with 1-2 miles first week of training. Each weekend, the runs gets longer, peaking at 20 miles three weeks before the SF marathon. A tapering period allows runners to gather energy for the race. The stepback week allow runners to avoid overtraining.

Our experienced coaches and mentors take a proactive approach to making this a positive experience and a lifelong passion.

They offer stretching and strengthening exercises before and after the run, recommend cross-training options and stress upon injury-prevention and safety.

Time Commitment
================

The team runs on 20 Sunday mornings (March-July) starting at about an hour and extend up to as long as you take to finish the scheduled run. The three weekday runs can be scheduled with the team or at your convenience.

Cost
=====

Full Marathon cost covers 20 weeks of training and entry to Vibha Dream Mile Half Marathon on Jun the 1st, 2014. It does NOT include entry into the SF Marathon, we invite you to register directly.

Runners of Dream Team M commit to fulfill dreams - their own and of underprivileged children. Towards this, Vibha offers two options - fundraise for a project or pay a flat program fee. We encourage you to consider fundraising first. Vibha volunteers and past fundraisers support and guide you through this journey. There is NO pressure however. In the unlikely event of finding yourself unable to meet your fundraising target, we let you fall back to the flat fee program without any penalties. A fundraising coordinator will work with you and walk you through the details.

Fundraising option: At $50 a mile, Dream Team M runners will aim to raise $1300 for the entire program.

Flat fee option: First time trainees can sign up for a flat fee of $650 and excuse themselves from the fundraising completely. Please note that this not tax-deductible as it does not qualify as a donation.

Initial meets last about an hour (including stretching, and Q&A) and extend up to as long as you take to finish the scheduled run. The three weekday runs can be scheduled with the team or at your convenience.

Repeat Trainees: Dream Team M is growing, but we keep our bond intact. Repeat trainees (runners who trained with us in 2011-2013) who choose the flat fee option pay $200.
